Well, here I am - living, breathing, sleeping, and writing in the Big City.  New York is a far cry from San Francisco or even Chicago.  Altogether busier, which is both good and bad.  Good in the sense that there's an incredible, inspirational crush of energy, cultures, noise, sights, and even smells.  Bad in the sense that there are times when you'd like to turn all of that off and just be.

Fortunately, I'm living in Brooklyn in a leafy neighborhood called Park Slope.  Lots of cute restaurants and cafes to explore when I can emerge from the packing boxes.  Lest you think I'm ignoring Max McDaniels, however, I can assure you that I am not.  In fact, here are some updates on the series generally and The [...]

Some BIG Life Changes Ahead!

Some readers have been emailing lately about why I haven't been making many (translation:  any) entries to the Blog on the new website.  Well, there's a reason.  Actually, there are many reasons, but there are two big ones:

I just got engaged and will be moving from San Francisco to New York!

Big news, big news.  While some might choose to propose and others might swap coasts, I decided to tackle both simultaneously and I'm confident that you're both shocked and awed by my ambition.  Actually, that's a politically charged phrase.  Let's change it to "bewildered and dazzled"....

It's been a big project and, like most big projects, has had its share of exciting, inspirational, exasperating, and exhausting moments.  While I enjoy technology, I'm hardly a web-savvy person and the world of programming, CSS, wireframes, HTML, etc. might as well be magic.  Fortunately, I had some heavy hitters to help me out and thus I confined my efforts to creating the content that would compri [...]

Off to the Big Apple
I’m heading off to New York later this week to catch up with old friends, have lunch with my editor, and escape the cold of a San Francisco summer. New York is always such an intriguing city – it is simultaneously such an American city, but so international as well. Just walking around Manhattan, a person is simply bombarded with dozens of languages, dialects, personas, etc. No other American city has the kind of concentrated energy that New York offers – it is a vibrant, electric, exhausting experience that I love in doses before I retreat to the relative calm of San Francisco. I’ve toyed with the idea of living in New York and, in fact, was very close to moving there at one point, but I think those days are behind me. I’m no puppy anymore and I find that New York both insp [...]
